
New Professional Program in Provins – Training for Cabaret, Musical Theater Dancers
We are pleased to announce the opening, in France (Seine-et-Marne), of the Centre Chorégraphique de Provins, entirely dedicated to Cabaret, and Musical Theater.
A unique professional program will be offered to young artists wishing to train as versatile dancers, combining dance, singing, acting, and various techniques.
This program is aimed at passionate and motivated young dancers who want to turn their passion into a profession, join companies, revues, cruise ship shows, or musical productions, under the demanding yet supportive guidance of artistic teams selected by Thierry Mercier and Michel Prosperi.
The professional curriculum is divided into three progressive levels, each designed to be completed over the course of one year. Admission will be by audition, following a pre-selection based on application.
Level 1: Beginners / Intermediate
A comprehensive program to build solid foundations in:
* Strength training
* Pilates and yoga, stretching, and dance training
* Sports coaching
* Dance, singing, acting techniques
* Floor barre & classical dance
* Modern jazz, lyrical jazz (basic level)
* Contemporary dance
* Music hall & cabaret (basic level)
* Street dance, hip-hop (basic level)
* Tap dance (basic level)
* Character dance (basic level)
Key objectives level 1:
* Prepare students for entry into advanced programs
* Strengthen body awareness and technical basics in dance, singing, and acting
* Discover and learn styles: Music Hall, Cabaret (heels, French Cancan technique, feathered ballets), Modern Jazz, Classical, Contemporary, Hip-hop, Street, Lyrical Jazz
* Build foundations in tap and character dance
* Physical conditioning: Pilates, yoga, stretching, dance training, sports coaching, floor barre
* Introduction to physiology, biomechanics, dance and music history (optional)
* Speech development: voice work, breathing, placement, self-confidence, vocal tone, and development
Level 2: Intermediate / Advanced
An intensive program to develop technique, strength, and versatility, including:
* Strength training, stretching, core work, abs-glutes, flexibility training
* Specific courses:
→ Floor barre & classical dance (intermediate/advanced)
→ Pilates & yoga
→ Stretching & dance training
→ Sports coaching
* Dance, singing, acting techniques
* Work on varied French and English (especially American) repertoire
* Modern jazz, lyrical jazz (minimum intermediate level)
* Contemporary dance (minimum intermediate level)
* Music hall & cabaret (basic and/or advanced level)
* Street dance, hip-hop (basic and/or advanced level)
* Tap dance (basic level)
* Character dance (basic level)
Key objectives level 2:
* Prepare for auditions, stage work, and casting
* Strengthen and confirm technical foundations (dance, singing, acting)
* Deepen style mastery: Music Hall, Cabaret (heels work), Modern Jazz, Classical, Contemporary, Hip-hop, Street, Lyrical Jazz
* Consolidate tap and character dance basics
* Intensify physical conditioning: Pilates, yoga, stretching, dance training, sports coaching, floor barre
* Strengthen singing and acting skills (intermediate/advanced level)
* Familiarize students with stage codes, backstage practices, rehearsals, and show preparation
* Take complementary courses: physiology, biomechanics, dance and music history
* Develop speech and voice: articulation, breathing, confidence, tone, vocal development
Level 3: Advanced / Pre-professional
A comprehensive and intensive program, a true gateway to the professional world, including:
* Strength training, stretching, core work, abs-glutes, flexibility training
* Specific courses:
→ Floor barre & classical dance (advanced level, ballet work)
→ Pilates & yoga
→ Stretching & dance training
→ Sports coaching
* Intensive dance techniques: ballet, singing, acting
* In-depth work on French and English (especially American) repertoire
* Modern jazz, lyrical jazz (advanced level, ballet-based)
* Contemporary (advanced level, ballet-based)
* Music hall & cabaret (intermediate/advanced, heels work)
* Street dance, hip-hop (intermediate/advanced)
* Tap dance (foundation consolidation)
* Character dance (foundation consolidation)
Key objectives level 3:
* Prepare for auditions and casting
* Global technical and artistic reinforcement
* Work on stage codes: backstage, space management, learning shows, rehearsals, up to opening night
* Voice and acting coaching: speech, breathing, confidence, tone, vocal development
* Cultural deepening: dance and music history (written research required)
* Optional courses in physiology and biomechanics
* Semi-professional and professional internships offered as part of the program
End-of-program auditions (Level 3 / Advanced Program)
At the end of training, students will present:
A scene: personal choice (theatrical or cinematic, contemporary or classic)
Speech: oral presentation on a chosen topic
Singing:
→ One assigned song (from a list of 3)
→ One personal choice
Dance:
→ Class + warm-up + technical work
→ Personal choreography
→ Choreography assigned on exam day (audition simulation)
A written thesis: research on dance or music history, focused on a chosen figure or movement, with supporting documentation
